So I think it was ... 4 months ago? that I planned on starting to blog along with my doTERRA journey. Well life got in the way, and besides discovering doTERRA oils I also discovered trying to start a blog with a newborn and a toddler in the house is next to impossible. Said newborn, is now 5 months old and things are starting to resemble normalcy. Of course, other life events are now hindering my advancement in my desire to share what I have been learning about the awesomeness (its a word) of essential oils. Currently we are living in a hotel, after frozen pipes busted all over our house while we were out and flooded the house. We are in week 3 of living in a hotel and I am SO ready to be back home. I have actually found time to get on the computer because there is not much space for the toddler to wander and destroy in a hotel room and the 5 month old is able to spend some time playing on the floor or rolling around doing other baby things.
Moving away from my procrastination explanation...
My plan for this blog was to have an oil "spotlight" each post and also then a follow up post about some project/special recipe based on the oil of the week.
So here goes!

The journey begins...
Earlier this week. I officially signed up as a doTERRA Wellness Advocate and today I received the introductory packet!
It's full of some great info for starting my own little doTERRA business and how to help others manage their health through the use of natural essential oils. So I am using this blog as a way to easily connect with anyone interested in following me on my journey to wellness! Let's start with my personal story of discovering oils....
Back in 2013 my yoga teacher, Samantha, used doTERRA essential oils during our classes. She always raved about all of their uses and I was witness to the energizing abilities of Citrus Bliss and the relaxing properties of lavender. At the time, I was really focusing on getting my family into a natural lifestyle. I first began with our food, making sure we only consumed organic or non-GMO foods/drinks. After I had that down, I moved on to our household products. Our detergent, sprays etc, I changed out everything for ones with kid and environment friendly ingredients. All the while, seeing and hearing about Samantha's success with making all of her own cleaning products (amongst other things) with oils. When my husband and I decided to start planning for baby #2, I realized that all of our personal products were just as dangerous as anything else I already got rid of in our house. I was using chemicals for my skin to absorb everyday! I began researching alternatives and switched out what I could, but I really found this switch to be the hardest! Products marked as "natural" had hidden ingredients of chemicals and who-knows-what! The few products I found that I was confident I could trust, were so expensive! I was willing to pay but kept searching for alternatives. For Christmas, my husband gifted me with the introductory kit from doTERRA, which included lavender, lemon, and peppermint. Finally! I've been talking about oils for a year now and how I wanted to try them. These especially came in handy when trying to replace common OTC drugs. When I had a headache, I reached for the peppermint oil, not some Tylenol. When my husband suffered from seasonal allergies, we used a bit of all 3 to help get him some relieve from congestion. When my toddler was acting a little too crazy or had a diaper rash, I dropped some lavender in his bath. It was great. Except, I really didn't rely on them for multiple uses, just the few things I already knew about. I would Google more uses of each and just come up with too many pages, too much info. It was overwhelming! I kind of backed off a little. Then, about a month ago, I realized my son had a mysterious "booboo" under his ear lobe. It was an awkward location for a bandaid, so he kept unintentionally opening the cut again. It was looking really ugly and just not having proper time to heal! I was worried about it getting infected (and had all these horrific, irrational, fears of his ear falling off! Haha) so I jumped on Pinterest and searched for natural ways to help a cut heal faster. I saw essential oils everywhere, and a lot of mentions of lavender being a natural antiseptic. Perfect! I had that and he couldn't rub it off! So the next morning, before I sent him off to school, I rubbed some lavender on it (it was scabbed over again ugly and 9 different shades of red). I picked him up a mere 4 hours later and when we got home, I changed his shirt for nap time, I noticed that it was just a light red area. No scab, no blood, nothing! It was practically healed over. All the times I have used oils before, none have truly surprised me like this time. This was my "aha! Moment". I knew after this I needed to learn about every oil and get them in our house for real! So I contacted Samantha and talked it over and signed up to become a Wellness Advocate!
Samantha assured me that I don't have to be worried about "selling" the oils, just share everything they do for me and my family in our healthy lifestyle, and people will want to share in our wellness! My only concern was that I still am new to oils overall. All the stories I was reading from other blogging advocates were along the lines of how they used oils for x-amount of time and then decided to become a Wellness Advocate, so they were already experienced and educated on a lot of the oils and their attributes. I have so much to learn! But after thinking about it, I decided to make it a positive point.
I will blog about everything I am learning and you can learn along with me! I will post 2 days a week, minimum. One post will focus on the spotlight oil for that week. I will research and blog about all the uses and ideas for the weekly oil. The second post will be a project! I will make or try something with oils and post the outcome here!
I hope through this blog I can guide other oil newbies into incorporating doTERRA essential oils in their daily lives.
